UMass Lowell Online Programs Receive High Rankings for 2021 from U.S. News & World Report

UMass Lowell online programs are nationally ranked

UMass Lowell’s online programs offered through the division of Graduate, Online & Professional Studies have been ranked among the best in the nation for 2021 by U.S. News & World Report, which assessed more than 1,000 programs nationwide.

The University’s online graduate programs in criminal justice are ranked #4 in the nation and #2 among all public colleges and universities, offering the lowest price among New England-based criminal justice programs in the new rankings.

UMass Lowell’s online Master of Science in Information Technology is named #16 in the nation, making it the highest-ranked graduate IT program on the list among all public institutions in New England.

Also ranked highest among New England colleges and universities are UMass Lowell’s online graduate degrees in education, which landed at #23 nationally. Graduate education program offerings include education administration, curriculum and instruction, leadership in schooling, and reading and language.

UMass Lowell’s online graduate business degrees, including the AASCB-accredited online MBA program, also received high rankings both nationally and regionally. Nationally, UMass Lowell’s online MBA is #35. This top-50 online MBA program in the nation is also the most affordable on the list. The university’s online graduate programs in accounting, business analytics and finance are ranked #29 in the nation, and are the highest-ranked public programs in Massachusetts.

Ranked #50 nationally, UMass Lowell’s online Master of Science in Engineering Management is the highest ranked among public institutions in New England with the lowest tuition cost.

The University’s online bachelor’s degree programs — which include subjects from business and English to liberal arts, information technology and criminal justice — are ranked #31 in the nation overall, and second-highest among New England public institutions.

“These rankings reflect our high-quality educational offerings and underscore the strong return on investment students in our online programs receive,” said UMass Lowell Chancellor Jacquie Moloney, who founded the university’s online program more than 20 years ago and is an internationally recognized leader in the field.

All of UMass Lowell’s online degrees and certificates see more than 31,000 enrollments annually, and are accredited and offered through the same high-quality academic departments as the University’s on-campus degree programs. Online students are connected to a brick-and-mortar institution that is one of the top-100 public universities in the nation, and have access to a broad range of online and in-person support designed to meet their unique needs.
